You may not be aware that Dec. 10 was chosen exactly because it was the
birthday of Augusta Ada Byron (Lady of Lovelace, Charles Babbage's
assistant and "programmer" of his mechanical engines precedenting
electronic computers which were realized almost a century later).
Furthermore, that original U.S. Department of Defense military standard
was numbered MIL-STD-1815, in honor of the year of Ada's birth, 1815.
