this is not quite true. 90% of programmers do not care about the language
either. most will start programming with some language, may be C or COBOL,
and will not want to learn anything else if they can help it for the rest of
their life. They will only look at and learn a new language if they see there
are more work in that language (that is why so many programmers now are
spending time learning Java, because they see there are more work for those
who know Java, just by looking at the job Ads.)

Why spend time learning new language if they do not have to, especially if
this will take time from their TV time watching football or basketball, or
time out from going out to the local bar with the bodies.

Most programers do not really care, whatever will get the pay check at the
end of the month is good enough for them. These type of programmers will
eventually become managers and will hire people like them, and the cycle will
repeat again.
