Tutorial Abstracts:
******************

T1 :Improving Your Influence in the Organisation
---
Otto Vinter,Delta, Bent Adsersen, Denmark

This highly intensive full day tutorial will teach you how
to exploit the real powers that you have in your organisation,
and how you can become more efficient in your day-to-day contact
with developers and managers. We will identify and work with common
problems of testers in relation to other groups in the organisation.
Through a self assessment you will learn your personal team
profile. Through group exercises you will learn to be aware
of incongruent communication.

T2: Practical Exercises with CMMI Continuous 1.02
---
Miklos Biro, Sztaki, Hungary, Richard Messnarz, ISCN, Ireland

This highly intensive full day workshop gives an introduction into CMMI
and includes practical exercises about existence scoring, capability
rating, assessment planning (specifically tailoring), and improvement
planning. It is based on a real anonymous firm and allows
participants to form teams and elaborate themselves.
Also a tool set will be presented which supports the data gathering in
CMMI assessments and automates the capability profile calculation as well
as the strengths- and weaknesses analysis.

T3: Software Project Planning Seminar
---
Mads Christiansen, Robert Olesen, Delta, Denmark

Tutorial attendees will learn how to perform a team-based project
planning workshop, how to set up and select participants for the
workshop, how to identify work packages based on project objectives,
tailoring of development model, stakeholders involved, etc.

T4: Project & Risk Management Tutorial
---
Fran OHara, Insight, Ireland

The importance of software project management in determining the success
or otherwise of a project cannot be understated.
This seminar will focus on these responsibilities and the associated
project management processes.

T5: PMA - Harvesting Experience - Identifying Improvement Opportunities
---
Nils Brede Moe, Sintef, Tor Stalhane, NTNU, Norway

PMA (Post Mortem Analysis) is a method for harvesting experience both
good and bad and an important tool for identifying your process
improvement opportunities.
The method can be heavy and elaborated like the PMA used by Apple
Computers and Microsoft, or it can be rather light, like the US Army's
After Action Review.

T6: Teaching SPI at University Graduate and Postgraduate Level
---
Terttu Orci, University of Stockholm, Sweden

SPI is the commonly agreed medicine for the illness called software
crisis. In software engineering curricula at the university level, not
only the technical and management perspectives for software engineering
should be taught from the theoretical point of view, but also the state of
the practice. This tutorial will present how SPI is taught at the Royal
Institute of Technology and Stockholm University at graduate and
postgraduate levels of education.

T7: Software Measurement
---
Bruce J. Hofman

This tutorial will allow attendees to learn from first hand experience how
to define software measurements that are meaningful because they are
directly related to the needs of their organization. Each attendee will
be asked to come to the tutorial with 2 or 3 specific business goals
in mind. These will be used to develop specific software measurements
that will help their organization meet its business objectives.

T8: Integrating SPICE and CMMI
---
Risto Nevalainen, STTF, Finland

This tutorial presents the two major reference models for software process
assessment and improvement, namely SPICE (ISO15504) and CMMI. Models are
shortly described and compared. A practical approach to use them
together in SPI-oriented assessment is presented.
Some case studies from integrated use of models in Finnish companies is
described.
