Hello, my name is Greg Gicca. I have been involved in the Ada community since 1983 and have been a strong advocate of the language since then. I have been with TeleSoft/Alsys/Thomson/Aonix for the past 10 years. I am currently the Ada product manager for Aonix. Although the reorganization announcement with Aonix this past January was certainly badly worded, Aonix is not getting out of the Ada business. We in fact are strengthening our offerings for our general Ada products, ObjectAda for Windows in particular is about to start shipping our first major release in a couple of years, and reemphasizing our hard real time and safety critical product offerings. We are here to stay. As far as Ed Falis is concerned, I worked with Ed for the past 8 or so years and consider him a good friend. Ed can respond to this message himself if he is a part of the distribution. For what it is worth, the new management team at Aonix realized shortly after they let some people go that almost all of the people they let go turned out to be a mistake. It is the unfortunate thing that happens when a new management team looks at a company with very little knowledge of its inner workings. They know this to be the case as do all of us here at Aonix. > > If anyone knows the truth to these rumors and events, please let me know. > I'm going to be teaching an Ada 95 class and was wanting to use the > ObjectAda > compiler, but their changes (1) requiring schools to purchase site licenses, > even at reduced rates, and (2) having an Aonix "stamp of approval" on > training material doesn't sit well with me. I know very little about the above, but I will look into it. You must be aware that we offer a fairly good discount product on the web. That is free. The available version of ObjectAda on our web site available for free download will be updated to the latest 7.2 release shortly. This may take a little while, but will happen. -- Greg Gicca Aonix Ada Marketing account [log in to unmask]
