(Refreshments and Social at 7:00 PM.) at the Lockheed Martin Corporation in Rockville, Maryland (see below). ************************************************************************* * Attendees will receive a copy of the featured book, and presentation. * ************************************************************************* Abstract: The talk features Mr. Scott Donaldson and Mr. Stanley Siegel from the Science Applications International Corporation, SAIC. they are co-authors of their book "Cultivating Successful Software Development: A Practitioners View" (Prentice Hall). They will speak on the use of various methods that contribute to success in software projects. They present their own "Object Measurement", a registered trademark, enabling one to measure software products and processes in everyday terms. Their presentation is to include several examples. Their premise is that underdstanding how to define, collect, use, and communicate measurements is a significant contributor to successful software projects. Measurements should be expressed in everyday terms familar to an organization. They will show us how to relate software product and software process measurements to one another to help focus on process improvement efforts. He has extensive experience in computer systems applications. Mr Donaldson was the director of an SEPG thathelped a 400-person organization acheive SEI Level 3. he was the program manager of an integrtation support to the Immigration and Naturalization Service. He and Mr Siegel are working on a second edition of their book, due at the end of 2000. Scott received a bachelor's degree in Operations Research from the United States Naval Academy, and a Master's degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Stan Siegel is a Vice President with SAIC. Since 1976, he has specialized in software product assurance. He co-authored a book on the subject in 1987. He co-authored his first textbook on Software Configuration Management, published in 1980. From 1992 until 1997, Dr Siegel was a member of an SEPG in an organization working on approximately 30 to 40 software projects of various sizes. He is currently the chief scientist in an organization providing systems integration support to the Immigration and Naturalization Service. Dr Siegel received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear Physics from Rutgers University.
