EHCI'01 - Advance Call for Papers IFIP Working Conference on Engineering for Human-Computer Interaction Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 11-13, 2001 --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORGANISATION The 8th IFIP Working Conference on Engineering for Human-Computer Interaction (EHCI'01) will take place in Toronto, Canada, immediately preceding the International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE'01). EHCI is a single-track conference organised by IFIP Working Group 2.7/13.4. As this is a working conference, participation is limited to people with accepted papers or position statements, or by invitation of the General Chair. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings through IFIP. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS The conference is intended to bring together those interested in strengthening the engineering and scientific foundations of user interface development. Papers are solicited on the functional requirements for human-computer interaction, and on the design, implementation and management issues involved in satisfying these requirements. Topics of particular interest are: * Software engineering aspects of user interfaces, such as: o architectures; o formal methods in HCI; e.g. for safety critical systems; o HCI models; e.g. context, user, task, object-oriented; o impact of distribution on user interfaces; o portability, consistency and integrability; o development processes; o case studies. * User interface tools and techniques in areas such as: o adaptive and customizable systems; o intelligent interfaces; o world wide web; o evaluation of user interfaces: technologies and tools; o building user interfaces using commercial frameworks. * Innovative user interfaces: o mobile/ubiquitous/wearable computing; o information visualization and navigation; o multimedia and multimodal user interfaces; o perceptual user interfaces; e.g. sensing and tracking systems; o computer supported cooperative work (CSCW systems and models); o virtual reality; o augmented reality. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ORGANIZERS General Chair: Rick Kazman, SEI/CMU 5000 Forbes Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3890, U.S.A.
