The registration fee for Tech Ed was $1,600 per person.  The cost
for the 300-some vendors had to be high, such much higher than others,
like Merant who co-sponsored the private party at Universal Studios.

As for the broad statement that they were a bunch of brainwashed
MSites, I had lunch at Tech Ed with senior managers and engineers
from places like Boeing, Connecticutt Life, and the like, who were
very serious about things like eCommerce and reliability and the DNS
(Digital Nervous System).  I also had lunch with techies where were
worried about bit-twiddling.

Besides, Tech-Ed is made up of a bunch of brainwashed
MSites who would never leave the comfort of the free
crab legs for something that actually had a little
beef on it like Ada.
