My UML book notes that there is a different symbolism for Class operations than Instance operations, in the same way there is a difference between Class (static) attributes and Instance attributes. Perhaps my UML book is out of date, but we had a lot of hassle trying to get Class operations from Rose/Ada until about 6 months ago when the ImplicitParameter option DoNotCreate was incorporated into the Ada CG.
