From: Bob Leif To: Tom Moran et al. We need to give a seminar to the American Trial Lawyers group, association, whatever. Title, "If You do not use Ada, You will Pay and Pay and Pay!" The possibilities for C++ malpractice suits are endless. The popularity of Ada and software engineering will be increased by a few multimillion Dollar or Euro judgments. Our former patrons the defense contractors are highly vulnerable. I might note, so is the medical device industry. Expert witnesses are well paid. It would be a virtuous undertaking to tell the truth and prevent future catastrophes. -----Original Message----- From: Team Ada: Ada Advocacy Issues (83 & 95) [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Tom Moran Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 10:34 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: Validation/quality (Re: AVM vs. JVM) > What I meant was sucky software doesn't cost the vendor > much because the customer expects it and puts up with it. I eagerly await a court judgment against someone for being negligent by using some popular, buggy, shrink-wrap software. He won't be able to turn around and sue the software vendor, since they explicitly promise nothing, but everyone's lawyer and insurance company will immediately tell their clients "don't dare use that software".
