Now, in many countries, new methods for usability research as well as facilities for observation and tests of IT products by users, are available. The LUTIN User Lab (RNRT PLatform and UMS CNRS) will be open to public in September at the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie de la Villette, the main french science park, in Paris. The European Conference should help connect the different user Labs in Europe and should offer an opportunity for exchanges about methodologies and technologies in this field. Papers are invited on the following topics: -scientific references in user behaviour observation based on various academic fields: how to connect these knowledge fields? How to guarantee the knowledge capitalization in the assessment process? -methodologies and technologies development required for specific IT Products, services and data: how to define the limitations ans specifications of each method and technology? How to design an effective and feasible bunch of protocols? -Relationships with IT industrial process of development (products, services and contents): how to give a better chance for user behaviour knowledge to be used actually by the developers? How to combine academic requirements and time-to-market constraints? Since this first conference will be a one-day event, a selection of papers and posters will be organized by the provisory French committee.
