For me, as well, it should be about people. However, if it follows that Web 2.0 is about people, how does the new technology play into accessibility, specifically accessibility as defined by section 508 (the U.S. government) and WAI (the W3C)? Is AJAX, Laszlo, or Xforms compatible with these requirements? The beginning edge of baby boomer retirement is happening. There are about to be many more "Aunts and Uncles of us". As of yet, I have not seen accessibility mentioned anywhere in Web 2.0 discussions. Though, I confess, I have not been able to keep up the most recent trends in development. It's been quite a bit to keep up with trends in design and usability. Jim Griesemer http://www.jrgdesignworks.com <snip> To me Web 2.0 is about people. Actually, users. --- I mention the technological aspects in an attempt to broaden the Web2.0 concept. The newer technology, and the more savvy developers, let us make applications more and more user-oriented, where "user" includes also that aunt of any of us. --- It's not about AJAX because it could also be Flash or Laszlo or XForms or Java or good DHTML. Today we say AJAX, soon there will be much better options. Will it be called Web 3.0? or 2.1? or maybe 3.1416? As numbers change the constant is design and implementation with the users in mind. </snip> -------------------------------------------------------------- Tip of the Day: Quote only what you need from earlier postings CHI-WEB: www.sigchi.org/web POSTINGS: mailto:[log in to unmask] MODERATORS: mailto:[log in to unmask] SUBSCRIPTION CHANGES & FAQ: www.sigchi.org/web/faq.html --------------------------------------------------------------
