*Call for Proposals for 2008 Special Issue*

The ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Communications, and
Applications (TOMCCAP) is now a 2-year old ACM journal, and the flagship
publication of the ACM Special Interest Group in Multimedia (ACM SIGMM).
It focuses on multimedia computing (I/O devices, OS, storage systems,
streaming media middleware, continuous media representations, media
coding, media processing, etc.), multimedia communications (real-time
protocols, end-to-end streaming media, resource allocation, multicast
protocols, etc.), and multimedia applications (databases, distributed
collaboration, video conferencing, 3D virtual environments, etc.). TOMCCAP
is a peer-reviewed, archival journal, available in both print form and
digital form. The Journal is published quarterly; with roughly 6 articles
of approximately 25 pages each in each issue.

While the journal started with 2 special issues per year, it has now
become TOMCCAP's practice to publish one Special Issue per year. Previous
special issues include Multimedia Information Retrieval (2006), Multimedia
Information Systems (2006), and Eye Tracking in Multimedia Applications
(2007).

This is a call for proposals for the 2008 Special Issue of the journal,
tentatively scheduled for November 2008. The journal is seeking proposals
for state of the art, currently relevant, and leading edge tropics in
various areas of Multimedia computing, communications, and applications.
Proposals should include:

1. Name and affiliation of guest editor(s);

2. Brief profile of guest editor(s);

3. The proposed topic;

4. A description of why the tropic is relevant and state of the art for
the Multimedia community;

5. Related conferences, workshops, and established research labs and
groups to draw authors from;

6. Suggested timeline for call for papers (CFP), review process, and
acceptance of final papers.

Proposals should be emailed directly to the Editor-in-Chief, Nicolas
Georganas [log in to unmask]
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> before December 31 2006.
