LAST Call for Papers
Special Issue on Collaborative Systems
Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JBCS)

The Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JBCS) is seeking
original manuscripts for a Special Issue on Collaborative Systems.
Collaborative Systems are designed to support groups in their
communication, coordination and cooperation needs. This special
issue focuses on topics related to computer supported collaboration
that have an impact on groups, organizations and social networks.
Relevant issues include design, implementation, deployment,
evaluation, methodologies, and effect of these systems.

Topics include but are not limited to:
- Interaction analysis
- Groupware development framework
- Collaborative software development
- Mobility for collaboration
- Group negotiation and decision support
- Social and organizational aspects of introducing collaboration support
- Collaborative systems evaluation
- Methodologies and tools for design and analysis of collaborative practices
- Ethnographic and case studies of work practice
- Collaborative systems for crisis response
- Computer Supported Collaborative Learning

Contributions will be considered for publication in JBCS if they
have not been published previously and are not under consideration
for publication elsewhere (except in the form of an abstract or
thesis, or that have appeared in conference proceedings but have
been substantially revised). Acceptance of papers for publication is
subject to a peer review procedure and is conditional on revisions
being made given comments from referees. Details of format for final
submission will be provided for accepted papers.

Authors whose papers are accepted will be requested to transfer the
copyright rights to the Brazilian Computer Society, to ensure the
widest possible dissemination of the paper.

Submitted articles are to be written in English and typed
double-spaced on one side of white A4 sized paper. Each paper should
be no more than 20 pages long, including all text, figures and
references. The final manuscript should be approximately 8000 words
in length.

Page 1 should contain the article title (not more than 15 words),
author(s), affiliation(s), keywords (not more than 6 keywords),
abstract (no more than 250 words) and the name, fax number and
complete mailing address (both postal and email) of the person to
whom correspondence should be sent. All contributions will be
acknowledged and refereed.

It is the sole responsibility of the authors to obtain the necessary
permissions to cite other sources. The authors are also responsible
for the correctness of the information contained in the paper.

The full manuscript should be submitted as a PDF file by the 10th of
April of 2007. The issue will have three guest editors who will
independently handle submissions that have conflicting interests.

The Journal of the Brazilian Computer Society (JCBS) is the formal
quarterly publication of the Brazilian Computer Society.

Its aim is to publish original research papers, serving as a forum
for disseminating innovative research in all aspects of computer
science. The priorities of the journal are quality and timeliness.
The journal also has an electronic version with free access through
the Scielo Portal (http://www.scielo.br/revistas/jbcos/iaboutj.htm).
