Special Issue on DECISION TECHNOLOGY IN E-BUSINESS International Journal of E-Business Research (IJEBR) October 2008 Issue Full Paper Submission Deadline: July 31, 2007 Decision makers can use art, science, and technology to design strategies, develop policies and procedures, operate, and control e-business. Such activities can be enhanced greatly with decision technology. Among other things, this technology includes models from management science, statistics, economics, accounting, and cognitive science, algorithms and methodologies to solve the models and generate predictions and recommendations, and decision making support systems to deliver the models, algorithms, and methodologies efficiently, and effectively to e-business managers. To achieve the desired effect, existing decision technology must be adapted for e-business management, and new decision technology must be created. Implementation strategies must be formulated, and a management plan for the decision technology must be established. Once implemented, e-business decision technology must be evaluated for effectiveness, efficiency, and efficacy. Implemented decision technology, then, must be evaluated and adapted as necessary for dynamic e-business events. The goal for this special issue of the International Journal of Electronic Business Research is to collect and disseminate state-of-the-art, high- quality, scientific knowledge and professionals’ experience on the use of decision technology in e-business. Submitted papers should be based on rigorous theoretical or empirical research that studies the technical, behavioural, economic and managerial issues involved in designing, developing, and implementing decision technology in e-business. Reported findings should help organizations to resolve pertinent problems and/or address relevant improvement opportunities. Papers with an interdisciplinary scope are of special interest. Topics of interest include - but are not limited to - studies of: • Theoretical models and algorithms that can be applied to e-business • Theoretical decision making support systems for e-business • Applications of decision technology to existing organizations • Evaluation methods for decision technology in e-business • Empirically demonstrated benefits from using decision technology in e-business • Design, development, and management strategies for decision technology in e-business • Management of decision technology in e-business • Technical, behavioural, economic, and managerial issues presented by the utilization of decision technology in e-business Submission Authors are invited to submit a full paper by 31 July 2007.
