We invite conference attendees who wish to join us in some collaborative sport. Cleats encouraged but not necessary. Variable expertise levels encouraged! Some relevant topic and themes include: * Exercise * Spirit of the game * Activity modeling * Multi-modal and bimanual user interfaces * Collaboration and competition Important dates: Workshop Submission due by Nov 5. Workshop: Lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 12 (details provided later) Submission guidelines: If you plan to attend, RSVP for the Facebook Event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=44025472472 Or, if for some reason you don't "do" Facebook, just send us an email with the subject line "CSCW Ultimate" and a body containing your name and email address (and anything else you want to say) to [log in to unmask] You need to RSVP so we can know how much water and how many cones to bring and so we can add you to an email list. Details about where to meet, etc. will be sent out by email as the conference approaches. They will also be published on the Facebook Event page and here: http://si.umich.edu/mwnewman/cscw08ultimate.html We look forward to seeing you at the workshop! It will not result in an edited book or a special issue of a journal. You can't put it on your CV. It's just an attempt to play some ultimate in the beautiful San Diego weather during the conference. We'll provide water, cones, and some discs. You provide yourself, a white and dark shirt, and athletic shoes (cleats if you've got 'em and feel like bringing 'em). We'll all chip in and order pizza to eat after we're done playing. The lunch sessions this year will be really, really long, so there's plenty of time to shower and get dressed before the afternoon sessions. Never played before? That's fine! It's a simple sport that can be learned in about 5 minutes (though of course it takes a lifetime to master). There is a lot of running, though, so a modicum of physical fitness is recommended. It's open to women, men, young and old. This event is not endorsed by anybody (not by ACM, CSCW, U. Michigan, Microsoft, San Diego, or your mother) so in the extremely unlikely even that you get injured (please don't) there's nobody to blame but yourself and maybe the person that ran you over. --------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send an empty email to mailto:[log in to unmask] For further details of CHI lists see http://sigchi.org/listserv ---------------------------------------------------------------
