The Association for Computing MachinerySpecial Interest Group on Computer Human Interaction, Greetings. I would like to announce a new development in computer human interaction specifically pertaining to multimedia ergonomics. The new development is ergonomics that facilitate the selection of one or more intervals of multimedia content with those then having extensible context menu on that selection. End users can select one or more intervals of audio and video, in applications, media players and web and make use of extensible context menus to respond to, comment to or even criticize content. The uses describable for arbitrary content are partially iterated in our fair use laws. Interesting scenarios include convenient response to or use of selections of political speeches, news, punditry, arts and entertainment, civil discourse such as video blogs, and arbitrary multimedia content. By providing the means to select one or more intervals of multimedia content with those then having extensible context menus, the post-broadcast themes of computer science and the web can be enhanced providing for better user experiences. Kind regards, Adam Sobieski
