CALL FOR PAPERS UP 2012 1st International Workshop on Ubiquitous Personalization (http://cri.haifa.ac.il/registration/UP2012/) in conjunction with IUI-2012 (http://www.iuiconf.org) February 14th, Lisbon, Portugal. GENERAL INFORMATION ==================== In today's world, computer systems are part of almost every service we receive; we either interact directly with them (as in: ATMs, movies/transportation tickets purchasing kiosks, medical information kiosks, etc.) or they operate in the background (e.g., food ordering, medical treatment, flight boarding, shopping, etc.). Such services have the potential to be personalized to users preferences and needs in ways that will make them more friendly and useful. However, in order to do that, knowledge about the target user is required. Asking users each time for their preferences and needs can be time consuming for the user, inefficient and irritating. Beyond that, services are delivered everywhere and in changing environments; this means that the context varies too (with/without internet connectivity, local/abroad, etc.). Recent developments in technology (e.g., ubiquity of smart mobile devices) and social trends (e.g., online social networking) bring us closer to ubiquitous personalization, a situation where no matter where we go we will be able to receive services tailored to our personal preferences. In order to make ubiquitous personalization available to the masses, researchers need to draw upon knowledge that is multidisciplinary. Future personalized ubiquitous solutions need to address topics such as: communication interfaces, user interfaces, ubiquitous user modeling, lifelong user modeling and more. The purpose of the proposed workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners from different domains so that they can contribute to the discussion of how to make personalization ubiquitous. TOPICS OF INTEREST =================== In the workshop we will discuss Ubiquitous Personalization from 4 key perspectives: Personalization, User Modeling, Privacy, and Infrastructure. Personalization * Personalization in mobile and ubiquitous computing * Location based personalization * Semantic Web approaches and ontologies for personalization * Social Web approaches for personalization * Spatial and temporal reasoning for ubiquitous personalization * Integrated reasoning and inferences with user and context models * Personalization in intelligent environments like smart homes or smart cars * User Interfaces personalization * Lifelong aspects in personalization User Modeling - * User modeling interoperability * Distributed and externalized user modeling * Construction and acquisition of distributed user models * Conflict resolution for ubiquitous user modeling * Lifelong user modeling Infrastructure - * Interfaces and architectures for supporting personalization in both offline and online modes of connectivity * Ubiquitous communication interfaces for transferring user models Privacy - * Privacy, security and trust in ubiquitous personalization SUBMISSION GUIDELINS ===================== Full papers with up to 6 pages and short papers with up to 3 pages are accepted for the UP workshop. The style files can be found at our website, where the submission process is described in detail.
