Personalized Knowledge Modeling with Big (Usage & Context) Data
Call for Papers
A Workshop co-located with UMAP'12<http://umap2012.polymtl.ca/en/>, July 16-20, 2012, Montreal, Canada http://umbigdata.wordpress.com/

· Aggregating multiple sources of user context and usage data, from the social web and e-commerce sites, for generating user models

· Ontology mining and personalized knowledge discovery from user usage and context data in the Web and devices

· Using analytics for visualizing and summarizing large user (interest, preference and context) data

· Using analytics as a basis for explanation and interaction with user profiles

· Novel data analysis algorithms that enable easy, rapid knowledge discovery from complex data

· Novel applications of user model data beyond just recommender systems, e.g. trending of user behavior, indicating society impact, processes and evolution

· Using Linked (Open) Data for representation of dynamic user profiles on the web

· Using Linked (Open) Data for interpretation of usage and context data on the social web

· Reasoning for user and context profiles with big data

· Defining relevance measures when dealing with incomplete but large amounts of data

· Novel ranking mechanisms for serendipitous (semantic) personalized results

· Evaluation methodologies and approaches for real-time personalization in big (social web and semantic) datasets

· Personalization for ubiquitous computing

· Novel personalization algorithms with big datasets
Submission Guidelines
We call for original unpublished research results in all stages of development. Submissions should be sent to http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=umbigdata2012 , in one of the forms below:

· A regular paper for reporting and sharing experiences and results: long research paper (10-15 pages), short research paper (4-6 pages), applications and demo papers (2-4 pages).

· A 1-page position paper that highlights the problems and difficulties encountered and articulate the strategic directions of research needed.

· A data challenge paper that reports research results (max 5 pages) with real usage and context data in the following data sets or other data sets. Accepted submissions will be presented and a winner will be chosen.
