Software Engineer (Ada)

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, a related technical field, or the equivalent experience is required.
Advanced degree preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience is required, 20 years of relevant experience preferred in the following areas Programming Languages: Ada, C/C++
Methodology: Object Oriented Software Development
Tools: TeleUse/Motif, Clearcase
Operating Systems: Solaris, Linux, Windows
Host Environments: X86, Virtual Machines
Must be able to travel 20% of the time.
Applicant must be a US Citizen.
This position requires an active US Government Top Secret Clearance.
Duties and Tasks
Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems
Performs analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of technical engineering products
Supervises or manages lower level employees
Leads technical tasks for large teams or projects
Participates in development of technical strategies and teaming strategies across most projects within a business unit
Leads large technical projects
Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
Guides the successful completion of major programs and projects
Identifies and leads the execution of risk mitigation strategies
Works on highly advanced applications that may result in new business for the company
Develops information which may form newly developed concepts, theories and products
Frequent contact with all levels across the entire company
Serves as consultant to senior management and customers on long-range company planning
May serve as company technical spokesperson
Travel may be required
Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments
Self-supervisory and self motivating, work checked to ensure company objectives are met
Works on the most complex, cross functional and high revenue projects
May function in a large project or Integrated Product Team (IPT) leadership role
Must be capable of recognizing and avoiding erroneous decisions or recommendations that may result in long-term affects and may reflect poorly on the company’s reputation
