Sincerely, Franci McFarland & Julie Baher, Co-Chairs of the BayCHI Design Research BOF ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------* C(ollab)-RITE: How to Run Impactful Iterative Studies in a Fast-Paced Environment Jhilmil Jain, Ph.D., Google* UX research professionals often desire most that their work has impact, which can be tricky in fast-paced industry environments with short development cycles. This talk describes C(ollab)-RITE, a method that maximizes impact through cross-disciplinary collaboration on research observation, analysis, and design exploration within an agile, user-centered development framework. We showcase real-world tested techniques that Google’s Android and TV teams have developed and share tactics for reducing logistical overhead in a lean, iterative user-centered design process. Dr. Jhilmil Jain is the head of user research for Android at Google. She is passionate about leading teams that execute research and design to shape the product strategy and definition. Earlier in her ten-year career in Silicon Valley, she worked at Microsoft, HP Research Labs, and IBM Almaden Research Lab in domains such as mobile platforms, TV, retail, gaming etc. Jhilmil is a known expert in the field. She consistently presents and has held leadership positions at conferences like UXPA, CHI, HCII, and holds several patents in information visualization and personal information management systems. When Jhilmil is not focused on growing Android internationally and defining the future of computing, she can be found volunteering at Girls Who Code and the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, and agility teaching her dog.
