We offer a two year postdoctoral research fellowship in multisensory research in the Sussex Computer Human Interaction Lab (SCHI Lab) at the University of Sussex lead by Dr Marianna Obrist. The position is integrated in the Creative Technology research group established within the School of Engineering and Informatics and funded by the European Research Council (ERC) – supports excellence in frontier research.

The successful candidate will already possess a PhD either in the area of experimental psychology/neuroscience or in computer science/human-computer interaction. Interest in statistical modelling, computational neuroscience, data visualisations, human-computer interaction, interactive system design, or novel interaction techniques is required.

You will be highly enthusiastic about the exploration of touch, taste, and smell as interaction modalities for future interactive applications. You will have strong quantitative research skills including a solid background in statistics and statistical analysis (using R, Matlab, etc.) and experience with physiological measurements (experience with fMRI of advantage). A demonstrated interest in brain computer interfaces and novel technological developments would be desirable.

You will work in a very interdisciplinary research team with other postdoctoral fellows, PhD students from psychology, computer science, engineering, product/interaction design. Within this broad interdisciplinary environment you will have plenty of freedom and flexibility to shape the research project and advance your research career. The ultimate key requirement is to demonstrate academic excellence through high-quality peer-reviewed papers and strong interaction with the peer-community.
