The ICSR conferences focus on the interaction between humans and robots and the integration of robots into our society. The theme of the 2015 conference is "Individual Differences" Robots will improve quality of human life through assistance, enabling for instance independent living or providing support in work-intensive, difficult and possibly complex situations. The conference aims to foster discussion on the development of computational models, robotic embodiments, and behaviour that enable social robots to have an impact on the degree of personalised companionship with humans. The conference welcomes original contributions describing technically rigorous scientific and philosophical advances in the area of social robotics: Innovative ideas and concepts, new discoveries and improvements, novel applications on the latest fundamental advances in the core technologies that form the backbone of social robotics, distinguished developmental projects, as well as seminal works in aesthetic design, ethics and philosophy, studies on social impact and influence pertaining to social robotics, and its interaction and communication with human beings and its social impact on our society. *The topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:* * Robots with personality * Robots that can adapt to different users * Robots to assist the elderly and persons with disabilities * Socially assistive robots to improve quality of life * Affective and cognitive sciences for socially interactive robots * Personal robots for the home * Social acceptance and impact in the society * Robot ethics in human society * Context awareness, expectation, and intention understanding * Control architectures for social robotics * Socially appealing design methodologies * Safety in robots working in human spaces * Human augmentation, rehabilitation, and medical robots * Robot applications in education, entertainment, and gaming ================================================== KEYNOTE SPEAKERS ================================================== * Wendy Ju, Executive Director, Interaction Design Research, Center for Design Research at Stanford University USA * Gordon Cheng, Professor and Chair of Cognitive Systems, Founder and Director of the Institute for Cognitive Systems (ICS), TUM, Germany * Jacqueline Nadel, Director of Emotion Centre, UMR 7593, Salpêtrière Hospital, France ================================================== IMPORTANT DATES/DEADLINES ================================================== ** Submission of special session proposal: May 15, 2015 ** Paper submission: June 10, 2015 ** Submission of workshop proposal: June 15, 2015 ** Notification of paper acceptance: June 21, 2015 ** Final camera-ready paper submission: July 21, 2015 ** Competitions submission deadline: September 11, 2015 ** Competitions notification of acceptance: September 25, 2015 ** Conference in Paris: October 26-30, 2015 ================================================== SUBMISSION OF PAPERS ================================================== Subissions must be made in the PDF format and follow the Springer LNCS/LNAI style for the layout. LNCS style templates are available on the Springer LNCS website. Full papers are limited to ten A4-sized pages, extended abstracts to two A4 pages. Detailed instructions for paper submission are available on the conference website. All papers will be refereed by the program committee. ================================================== EXHIBITIONS ================================================== Participants who would like to exhibit their interactive demonstrations at the conference site need to submit a one page summary about the demonstration. Exhibition booths will be allocated to demonstrations approved by the ICSR2015 organizing committee. ================================================== WORKSHOPS ================================================== Participants are invited to hold a full/half day workshop on 26 October 2015 on a topic relevant to social robotics and the general theme "Individual Differences". Outlines of intended workshops are to be submitted by 15 June 2015. ================================================== ROBOT DESIGN COMPETITION ================================================== A search for creative ideas about what a robot companion could be. This year we are accepting designs from practitioners from any discipline, and in any format. Selected designs, prototypes, performances or demos will be invited for exhibited at the conference. ================================================== ORGANIZING COMMITTEE ================================================== /General Chairs/ Adriana Tapus, ENSTA-ParisTech, France Markus Vincze, TU Wien, Austria /Program Chairs/ Jean-Claude Martin, LIMSI-CNRS, France Elisabeth André, University of Augsburg, Germany /Workshop Chairs/ Ginevra Castellano, Uppsala University, Sweden François Ferland, ENSTA-ParisTech, France /Special Session Chairs/ Bram Vanderborght, Vrije Universiteit, Belgium François Michaud, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada /Robot Design Competition Chairs/ Jérôme Monceau, Aldebaran, France Francesco Ferro, Pal Robotics, Spain Arun Ramaswamy, ENSTA-ParisTech, France /Publicity Chairs/ Nicole Mirnig, University of Salzburg, Austria Fumihide Tanaka, University of Tsukuba, Japan /Finance Chair/ David Filliat, ENSTA-ParisTech, France /Local Organizing Committee/ Mehdi Ammi, LIMSI-CNRS, France Pauline Chevalier, ENSTA-ParisTech, France /Standing Committee/ Ronald C.
