*** ACM TVX 2017 CALL FOR DEMOS, DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM, TVX-IN-INDUSTRY AND WORK-IN-PROGRESS SUBMISSIONS*** www.tvx2017.com<http://www.tvx2017.com> Jun 14-16, Hilversum, The Netherlands ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ACM TVX is the leading international conference for research into online video, TV interaction and user experience. Our aim is to foster discussions and innovative experiences amongst the academic research community and industry. This year's theme is 'Alternate Realities' and we particularly welcome contributions that look into specific tools, methods and evaluation of experiences related to creating and enabling alternate realities. Submissions are encouraged in all areas related to interactive TV experiences, as advertised in the ACM TVX 2017 general call for papers (https://tvx.acm.org/2017/participation/full-and-short-paper-submissions/). KEY DATES --------- - Submission deadline: March 10, 2017 (12:00pm PT) - Camera-ready deadline: May 15, 2017 (5:00pm PT) The Doctoral Consortium will take place on June 14, 2017. Demo, Work-in-Progress and TVX-in-Industry sessions will take place during the main conference programme on June 15-16, 2017. SUBMISSIONS ----------- Submissions can be made here: https://precisionconference.com/~sigchi/ SIGCHI Regular Paper Format can be found here: http://www.sigchi.org/publications/chipubform/sigchi-paper-format-2016/view All accepted work for the tracks below will be published in the conference Adjunct Proceedings and disseminated within the TVX community. For context, reviews for full and short technical papers will be returned on March 3, with final notification on March 24, 2017. It is allowable, indeed encouraged, for authors submitting other forms of paper to the conference to also submit work to the tracks below. ####################################################### DEMOS ####################################################### See https://tvx.acm.org/2017/participation/demos/ for the complete call for demos. Demos are one of the most lively and exciting parts of ACM TVX conferences; they offer an opportunity for presenters to show off their work and to get insightful feedback, and for delegates to see and try some of the latest developments. Demo submissions take the form of 2-page papers written in the SIGCHI Regular Paper Format. This must describe the research and what will be shown during the demonstration; all submissions will be peer-reviewed and selection will be based on the novelty of the research and interestingness of the demonstration. Demo submissions do not need to be anonymised. Please ensure that your submission answers the following questions: - What is the scientific or engineering concept behind the work? - What is the novelty of the work and how is the work different from existing systems or techniques? - What will be actually shown during the demo? In addition, a separate Demo Rider document should also be submitted that details the technical requirements of the demo. The Demo Rider document is provided on the TVX website and should be uploaded through the PCS submission system together with your submission. ####################################################### DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM ####################################################### See https://tvx.acm.org/2017/participation/doctoral-consortium/ for the complete call for doctoral consortium submissions. The TVX Doctoral Consortium (DC) serves as a forum for PhD students to share ideas about the development, use, and evaluation of interactive television and online video. To compare approaches, discuss research problems and receive feedback from the international Interactive Television community. It is expected that students who will submit papers should have specified the research problems that their work will address, and have already made (or are close to making) their PhD research proposal. They should also have at least a year of work remaining to complete their PhD thesis. Submissions are of a paper that should be between 2 and 4 pages, not exceeding 4 pages (excluding references) and a poster. The paper should be in regular SIGCHI paper format. Papers should be well organised and structured in a way that demonstrates the links between the concepts presented, and they should clearly specify: - A real world problem that relates to and motivates the PhD; - The concrete research problem(s) that the (proposed) PhD is addressing and how this fits into the bigger picture of other research that addresses the real world problem; - The aims and objectives of the research; - The methods used to achieve the objectives and the proposed solution(s), including a brief description of work done so far and a tentative plan for future work; - The main contribution(s) of the research to interactive TV and justification why the contribution will lead to a PhD. A DC poster session will be held to enable one to one discussions with practitioners and researchers in interactive TV and to get more detailed feedback than may be possible in a paper session. The selection of students PhD papers will be based on the technical quality and originality of their submissions to the Doctoral Consortium. In addition, there will be a Best PhD Paper Award announced at the conference. ####################################################### TVX-IN-INDUSTRY ####################################################### See https://tvx.acm.org/2017/participation/tvx-in-industry/ for the complete call for TVX-in-industry submissions. Contributions to the TVX in Industry track include papers that are of particular interest to the industry. Contributions concerning business cases, marketing and market insights, case studies, best practices and lessons learned are also welcome. Paper submissions take the form of maximum 4-page papers written in the SIGCHI Regular Paper Format. All submissions will be peer-reviewed and selection will be based on the novelty of the research and interestingness of the work described. Priority will be given to the papers that show significant advances in research and development, technologies and real-world experiences that have industrial applicability. TVX-in-Industry submissions do not need to be anonymised. ####################################################### WORK-IN-PROGRESS ####################################################### See https://tvx.acm.org/2017/participation/work-in-progress/ for the complete call for work-in-progress submissions. ACM TVX 2017 encourages researchers, students and practitioners to submit Work-in-Progress (WiP) papers based on their recent viewpoints, new discoveries, and early-stage design and development in disciplines that are in line with TVX's areas of interest. The WiP session provides a unique opportunity for exchanging brave new ideas, receiving feedback and fostering collaborations. This year, we also introduce a Project-in-Progress special track, soliciting contributions from ongoing major research initiatives including European Commission-funded or other similar-scale projects for cross-project discussions. Accepted submissions will be presented as a short pitch presentation and a physical poster at the conference, and will be included in conference adjunct proceedings for dissemination in ACM TVX community. Work-in-Progress should be submitted as 4-6-pages in SIGCHI Regular Paper Forma (including figures and references). Work-in-Progress paper submissions are not anonymised, and should include name, affiliation, and contact information of all authors. When submitting your work-in-progress 6 page paper, you will have to choose one of the one of the areas related to interactive TV experiences, as advertised in the ACM TVX 2017 general call for papers, submit your work in. Your submissions will be juried by a review committee based on originality, impact, and the quality of presentation. The committee will strive to recognize the potential of the submitted work for its future scientific, societal, economical or industrial impact. To maximize the visibility of your work, accepted submissions will be presented as 1) a short pitch ("poster madness") in the main track of the conference AND 2) a poster in a dedicated poster session. This year, the organizing committee will offer specially configured facilities and agenda to enhance the experiences of the poster session.
