Call for Interactive Artworks

Overview

ACM Multimedia 2017 will host the 14th edition of the Interactive Arts Program.

Following the cross-cultural tradition of the ACM Multimedia Conference, we welcome original works from artists, practitioners as well as researchers in technology and humanities creating interactive art works using the new media. We seek works that provoke contemplation, address contemporary issues, social interactivity, virtual emotional experiences, intelligent reactive enviroments. We welcome both installations and original creations exploring new concepts and ideas. All artworks are expected to feature significant physical and digital media components or multimodal interfaces. Selection for the exhibition will be based primarily on artistic merit and the potential to engage the conference audience. Digital art installations may include augmented or mixed-reality art, game-based art, enhanced performances, sound-based installations, tangible interfaces, and those featuring mobile and social media.

The exhibition will run throughout the conference with an additional event open to the general public to maximise exposure of the artworks.

Application Procedure

Applications should include a 3-page description of the artistic brief evidencing the idea, the significance and the role of the technical elements of the installation. The paper format should follow the ACM Multimedia format.

Applicants are required to submit supplementary material (audio, video, leaflets and brochures) that provides evidence of the artwork that is submitted for selection. As the online submission system restricts the size of the supplementary file to 10MB, print the URL to the movie file in the beginning of the paper/description if the authors plan to submit a video that does not fit in the 10MB upload restriction.
