We welcome contributions from people that are deeply involved to concretize the above vision also as a contribution to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve, overall, a better learning for a better world. This special issue is supported by the Association for Smart Learning Ecosystems and Regional Development (ASLERD). ----------------------------------------------------------- *Topics of Interest* ----------------------------------------------------------- Topics of interest include research papers that understand, conceive, and promote innovative people-centric design and development methods, education/training practices, informal social learning, and citizen involvement. Sub-topics can be grouped into (i) places for learning, (ii) people in place centered design, (iii) supportive learning technologies • Places for learning visions and future of institutional learning; interplay of formal and informal learning; novel educational models and settings; sharing & participatory practices; mixed educational approaches; dual education and other alternate scheme approaches; cultural influences; (dis-)continuity of time, technology, places, spaces, and processes; gamification of learning • People in place centered design general frameworks and methodological advancement; design, data and other relevant literacies; relation with digital skills & competences; literacies, skill and competences of smart citizens; community involvement in smart learning; learning through designing; monitoring and benchmarking of smartness (individual, institution, city, region) • Supportive Learning Technologies IoT, ubiquitous, VR and wearable technological supports; safety & security and privacy; interoperability of data & services; application of open, smart and geolocalized data in education; context awareness and adaptation =========================================== /*Submission guidelines and procedure*/ ---------------------------------------------------------- All submissions (abstracts and later final manuscripts) must be original and may not be under review by another publication.
