----------------------------------------------------------- PLEY - Eye Tracking in Games and Play Workshop June 2, 2020 Stuttgart, Germany | Co-located with ETRA 2020 Paper Submission Deadline: February 20 , 2020 https://pleyws.wordpress.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------- Among the many application areas of eye tracking, games have become an increasingly popular domain for leveraging this technology to 1) build new and novel experiences for players and 2) to gain a better understanding of players’ cognitive processes during gameplay. Games, however, pose unique challenges for using gaze technology due to their complex, dynamic, and sometimes very fast-paced environments. This workshop specifically targets the unique challenges of using, gathering, and analyzing eye tracking data faced in gaming. The workshop is of particular interest for researchers in game design, human-computer interaction, eye tracking, data science, and visualization. We want to establish a shared venue for this diverse community to enhance the current state-of-the-art and help develop the community further. This workshop specifically targets the unique challenges of using, gathering, and analyzing eye tracking data faced in gaming. We take a broad and inclusive perspective on gaming, considering video and PC gaming, hybrid board games, life-action role-playing games (LARPs), and virtual and augmented reality game-based applications, which all offer unique challenges and opportunities for gaze interaction and analysis thereof. ----------------------------------------------------------- TOPICS OF INTEREST (include but not limited to) ----------------------------------------------------------- Novel player experiences through gaze interactions User studies involving eye tracking and interaction techniques for games Multi-modal interaction that includes eye tracking in games Eye gaze interaction on small-, medium-, and large-scale displays Collaborative play environments using eye gaze Case studies on gaze in games Eye gazes for interacting in 3D or VR Analysis and visualization of eye gaze interaction data Prediction based on gaze interactions Player classification based on gaze interactions Gaze for emotion recognition of players Gaze-assisted interaction for blind or visually impaired people Eye tracking devices and hardware for game interaction Cognitive aspects during interactions Algorithms for processing eye gaze interaction data Data science concepts for gaze interaction data Privacy issues in gaze-assisted interaction and player tracking Eye gaze for collaborative interactions in game playing Midas touch problem in game playing Algorithmic challenges for gazes in games CPU vs. GPU games and gaze interaction Crowd sourced eye tracking studies for games Gaze-assisted game interaction for visually impaired people ----------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT DATES ----------------------------------------------------------- Paper Submission: February 20, 2020 Notification: March 19, 2020 Camera Ready Deadline: March 27, 2020 Workshop: June 2, 2020 ----------------------------------------------------------- FORMAT ----------------------------------------------------------- Papers can be up to 4 pages excluding references and should follow the formatting instructions and template at https://www.siggraph.org/learn/instructions-authors/.
