-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CALL FOR PAPERS - OSPERT 2022-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The 16th Annual Workshop on Operating Systems Platforms for Embedded Real-Time Applications (OSPERT 2022) July 5, 2022 Modena, Italy in conjunction with ECRTS'22 https://sra.uni-hannover.de/ospert22/
SUBMISSION OPEN [Deadline: April 27]
https://ospert2022.hotcrp.com/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------OSPERT is a forum for researchers and engineers working on (and with)Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOSs) to present recent advances in RTOStechnology, to promote new and existing initiatives and projects, and toidentify and discuss the challenges that lie ahead. The workshop, now inits eleventh year, provides the RTOS community with an opportunity tomeet, to exchange ideas, to network, and to discuss future directions.OSPERT strives for an inclusive and diverse program and solicits arange of varied contributions. To this end, the following types ofsubmissions are sought:1. proposals for stand-alone presentations (including talks on open problems, demos & tutorials, calls to action, etc.);2. proposals for reports on empirical experiments (including replication studies, preliminary experiments preceding a full conference submission, and negative experience reports discussing failed approaches); and3. technical papers (short papers and full workshop papers).See https://www.sra.uni-hannover.de/ospert22/formats.html for adetailed description of the different contribution formats.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------IMPORTANT DATES Submission deadline: April 27, 2022 (23:59 GMT-12) Notification of Acceptance: May 20, 2022 Final submissions: TBA Workshops: July 5, 2022 ECRTS '20: July 05-08, 2022--------------------------------------------------------------------------------SCOPE AND TOPICS OF INTERESTOSPERT is open to all topics related to providing a reliable andefficient operating environment for real-time and embedded applications.Developers of embedded RTOSs are faced with many challenges arising fromtwo opposite needs: on the one hand there is a need for extreme resourceusage optimization (processor cycles, energy, network bandwidth, etc.),and on the other hand there are also increasing demands in terms ofscalability, flexibility, isolation, adaptivity, reconfigurability, predictability, serviceability, and certifiability, to name a few.Further, while special-purpose RTOSs continue to be used for manyembedded applications, real-time services are also increasinglyintroduced and used in general-purpose operating systems, and marketpressures continue to blur the lines between the two formerly distinctclasses of operating systems. Notable examples are the various flavorsof real-time Linux that support time-sensitive applications, theemergence of commercial and open-source real-time hypervisors, as wellas the growth in features and scope of embedded OS and middlewarespecifications such as AUTOSAR.OSPERT is dedicated to the advances in RTOS technology required toaddress these trends. As such, areas of interest include, but are notlimited to, the following topics:- Case studies and experience reports- Consolidation of real-time and best-effort work on embedded platforms- Certification and verification of RTOSs and middleware- Coordinated management of multiple resources- Dynamic reconfiguration and upgrading- Empirical comparisons and evaluations of RTOSs- Flexible processor, memory, and I/O scheduling- Interaction with reconfigurable hardware- Operating system standards (e.g., AUTOSAR, ARINC, POSIX, etc.)- Power and energy management- Quality of Service guarantees- Real-time Linux variants- Real-time virtualization and hypervisors- RTOSs for manycore platforms- Scalability, from very small scale embedded systems to full-fledged RTOSs- Security and fault tolerance for embedded real-time systems- Support for multiprocessor architectures- Support for component-based development--------------------------------------------------------------------------------SUBMISSION FORMATS- Short WiP papers: up to three A4 pages, standard IEEE formatting.- Full workshop papers: up to six A4 pages, standard IEEE formatting.Visit https://sra.uni-hannover.de/ospert22/ for further details.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------CO-LOCATED WITH ECRTS'22OSPERT is a satellite workshop of the 32th Euromicro Conference onReal-Time Systems (ECRTS 2022), the premier European venue forpresenting research into the broad area of real-time and embeddedsystems.See https://www.ecrts.org/ for further information on ECRTS'22.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------PROGRAM CHAIRS Daniel Lohmann, Leibniz Universität Hannover Renato Mancuso, Boston University --------------------------------------------------------------------------------PROGRAM COMMITTEE Wolfgang Mauerer, OTH Regensburg Richard West, Boston University Peter Ulbrich, Technische Universität Dortmund Hyoseung Kim, UC Riverside Mohamed Hassan, McMaster University Rudolfo Pellizzoni, University of Waterloo Michal Sojka, Czech Technical University in Prague Bryan Ward, MIT Lincoln Lab Tam Chantem, Virgina Tech
