We invite applications for two positions at the Department of Computer Science of Reykjavik University. They can be either at the Ph.D. student or post-doctoral level.
The position is part of a research project on randomized distributed graph coloring algorithms (Constrained Distributed Symmetry Breaking,
https://www.ru.is/kennarar/mmh/project.html) funded by the Icelandic Research Fund, under the direction of Magnus M. Halldorsson. The project is also an umbrella for general algorithms research, particularly on constrained models such as streaming, online, property testing, sparsification, or approximation. The applicant is expected to have good mathematical grasp, with some experience with probabilistic analysis.

PhD position provides a stipend of 425,000 ISK per month before
taxes. It is for three years, to start as soon as possible.
Postdoc position is for one year (the start date is negotiable), and can be renewed for one more year, based on mutual agreement, with a salary of 625,000 ISK per month before taxes.
