>From April to August, 1997, users from

  3,996 organizations transferred
223,483 files from the PAL

As with the monthly report, this DOES NOT include the activity of the
PAL mirror sites.  This is only the FTP, Gopher, and HTTP activity of
the WU Archive site.

Also, during this time frame, 31,752 files were updated/added to the PAL.
The total number of files transferred from the PAL on the WU Archive site
was 300,704.

For those of you who want the full picture, add the figure from the article
on the PAL's operation in Ada Letters to the above figure of 223,483.
Before August, this sum was up to over 1,000,000 files transferred by
users ... now its nicely larger than that.

Also, the TOTAL number of organizations that have accessed the PAL since
it started operation is now over 8,000 organizations in 102 countries.
