We also had a Y1970 problem. Our punched card systems used a single column for the date. In 1969 we discovered that a lot of programs would not work in 1970. To solve this, we used the Eleven punch for 7, the Twelve punch for 8, and a combination of the Eleven and Twelve for the 9, thereby creating an early version of the Y2K problem.
